Visitors to Melbourne's Federation Square will hear a feast of beautiful music as 30 young singers show us why they are the 2009 Australian Vocal Scholars.
Twelve of these young singers will perform a solo item. Three will then be selected as finalists and each will get the opportunity to sing at either Opera in the Alps, Opera by the Lock and Opera in the Market (one scholar will perform at each event). One of these young singers will be announced as the Australian Vocal Scholar of the Year on the last night of Opera in the Market and receive $1,000.
Special guest appearance by popular tenor Roy Best will be one of the highlights of this afternoon of vocal treasures.
