Australian Music Events is thrilled to have Australian soprano Helena Dix, direct from London, appear as guest soprano for 2012. Helena is a former Opera Scholar of the Year and is currently stunning audiences in Europe. She represented Australia at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition. Guest tenor will be Boyd Owen. Boyd was Scholar of the Year in 1996 and is now one of the renowned Ten Tenors singing all over the world.  It is his voice on the Carlton & United advertisement singing Nessun Dorma. James Morrison, Australian jazz musician, composer and multi-instrumentalist, renowned for his trumpet playing, will be another guest artist along with Guy Noble, one of Australia’s most sought-after and entertaining conductors.

The event will be staged at the picturesque grounds of Mayday Hills Oval at Beechworth, Opera in the Alps is a magical evening of classical favourites now established as one of regional Victoria’s cultural highlights. The theme of the Program for 2012 will be “The Best of Opera in the Alps”; approximately 150 pieces have been performed since Opera in the Alps began at Mt Buffalo 16 years ago.

An early booking is encouraged for this great opportunity to hear these wonderful artists under the stars. The Premium Package is the perfect way to experience Opera in the Alps and we welcome you to indulge in pre-concert corporate hospitality with fine wines on the lawns of the Pines Convention Centre which command a breathtaking view of the concert setting.
